School Days...

posted by Christi at 7:25 PM

Well, it was officially back to the grind for us teachers today. So far all has gone well. I had only freshmen today; I have two junior classes and one more freshmen class tomorrow. Things went pretty much as I expected for my sweet little fish. They were literally paralyzed with fear, most of them afraid to speak. They were frantically trying to decipher which lunch they had and how in the world they were going to get to their locker on the far end of the top floor and back down to the gym on the opposite end of the school in time to get dressed out for PE. Sigh...bless their little hearts....how can you not love 'em?

But I'm not the only one in school now. As most of you already know, our little man started to day care full time last week! And so far he's done pretty well really. This morning was a little rough; he's getting over a cold and we had to leave extra early since I wanted to be on the road before the other "first day of school" crazies. And those of you who know my son also know that he is NOT a morning person. But he's really enjoying it so far. His teacher's name is Samantha; she's a young girl, and very sweet. Aidan told me the other day, "She's a nice girl; I love her sometimes." An honest response. They have lesson plans that they send home each week so we know what they're doing and what they're learning. I love it, and hopefully it'll get easier to leave him there in the mornings, eating his breakfast with the other kids, so tiny and sweet but so big and independent. I really need that day to come quickly.

Hot Fun in the Summertime!

posted by Christi at 7:28 PM
What a summer it's been! So many firsts, so many memories....and it's almost over! I'm trying very hard to be brave. I've really enjoyed being with the kids these last couple of months; I'm going to miss watching "Diego" in the mornings with Ace over a bowl of cereal, and kissing my baby girl's nearly bald head as she dozes off for her nap. But there is a part of me that's ready to rejoin the adult world. I can only play Hungry Hungry Hippos so many times before it seriously begins to lose its luster. And I take solace in knowing there'll be so many more summers to come! Here are some new pictures of the kids taken over the last couple of weeks. This was what life was like for them all summer....I wish that kind of joy for everyone.
