Aidan Goes to School

posted by Christi at 10:32 AM
In the tradition of great minds everywhere who are seeking to push their intelligence to the limits while enhancing social talents, our little Ace is going to school. Yes, that's right. Every Tuesday from 8:30 to 4:00, he will be attending Mother's Day Out at the First Baptist Church here in Paris. It'll be a great opportunity for him to make some friends and also pick up some valuable social skills (aka sharing, patience, turn-taking, calm communication rather than screaming). These are harder to pick up living in a family where he's the only baby (except for Kami, of course, but she's starting to school, too) and basically the center of everyone's universe. I've met Miss Mary, his teacher, and she's sooo sweet. Very plump and jolly. Picture Mrs. Claus wearing capris and a buttercup yellow top. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't just the teeniest bit nervous, though. What if I leave him and he does nothing but cry all day? What if Miss Mary forgets to give him his milk before naptime? What if his grunts, which Larr and I understand completely, are unintelligible to Miss Mary and the other workers and his request for another graham cracker goes completely ignored?! Sigh...I know, I know...I have to cut the cord some time. He's going to have so much fun...and maybe I'll just stay for a bit 'til he gets the hang of things. ;)

He is such a big boy now... He will have a really great time once he gets used to it. Playing w/ all the other kids will be fun, fun, fun.

Oh Sis,

You're so brave to let Ace explore new things. Going to "school" will be so good for him. He'll get to play with others, learn how to interact, and teach the other children how to throw a ball, pick flowers, and play in the dirt. Oh, and speak a foreign language, memorize the periodic table, and solve the national debt.(He can't help that he's a genius!!!!)

You're a wonderful mother and I am proud of the woman you've become. Aidan is so blessed to have you as his mom!!! Keep up the good work. It's only just beginning!!!

I love you,
Meme

Christi and Larry Lee, you have the sweetiest little one year old boy. Don't push him to hard to grow up, he has a lot of years to go to school ahead of him. Let him grow used to other people keeping him and he will be fine. I am available any time but Monday afternoon. Just hollor.

Love you all
